Wheelchair access for buses in countryside

From Wednesday 23 February, it will be possible to order a bus with wheelchair access on routes 51 and 57 in the countryside. This is a project in development at Strætó and Vegagerðin.


At the moment, wheelchair users can only use certain bus stops and book trips at certain times.

Route 51 Mjódd - Selfoss

A bus with wheelchair access can be ordered by calling the Strætó service center at phone number 5402700 at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure.

Attention: Wheelchair-accessible buses can only be ordered on the following trips:

Mondays – Fridays:

  • 08:50 trip from Selfoss-N1 to Mjódd
  • 13:50 trip from Selfoss-N1 to Mjódd
  • 10:00 trip from Mjódd to Selfoss-N1
  • 15:00 trip from Mjódd to Selfoss-N1

 

Saturdays and Sundays:

  • 08:50 trip from Selfoss-N1 to Mjódd
  • 14:50 trip from Selfoss-N1 to Mjódd
  • 13:15 trip from Mjódd to Selfoss-N1
  • 17:30 trip from Mjódd to Selfoss-N1

 

There is only room for one wheelchair in the bus at a time.

The following bus stops only have wheelchair access: Mjódd, Hveragerði and Selfoss-N1


Route 57 Mjódd - Akureyri

A bus with wheelchair access can be ordered by calling the Strætó service center at phone number 5402700 at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure.

Attention: Wheelchair-accessible buses can only be ordered on the following trips:

All days:

  • 09:00 trip from Mjódd to Akureyri-Hof*
  • 16:20 trip from Akureyri-Hof to Mjódd*

There is only room for one wheelchair in the bus at a time.

The following bus stops only have wheelchair access: Mjódd, Akratorg, Borgarnes, Staðarskáli, Blönduós, Sauðárkrókur og Akureyri – Hof

*On Thursdays there is only service between Mjódd and Borgarnes
