In recent weeks, there has been discussion in society about the experiences of LGBTQ+ people, including in the television program Hatur on RÚV, where particular attention was given to the experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals in public spaces. Following this discussion, Strætó has taken action and started collaboration with Flotinn – the mobile youth center – as well as the Queer youth centre at S78 (national queer organisation ) and Tjörnin leisure centre.
The aim of this collaboration is to ensure that all passengers feel welcome and safe on board Strætó buses, with a special focus on younger passengers and youth.
The collaboration focuses on: 
• placing special emphasis on ensuring everyone is welcome on board 
• encouraging both staff and passengers to speak up if something happens 
• providing inclusion education for Strætó staff 
• strengthening procedures to respond quickly and appropriately to incidents
Strætó aims to be a genuine choice for everyone and emphasizes that public transport should be a safe way to travel. In the coming weeks, the next steps of the collaboration will be developed jointly and presented to the public.
The best way should be for everyone.

Safe Public Transport – Everyone Welcome on Board

The theme is a call to envision and work towards a society where transport services are available, accessible, affordable, safe and inclusive. Choosing public transport, walking or cycling should be a fair option for everyone.
Mobility week is a European awareness-raising campaign to improve transports in cities and towns, and Strætó has participated since the campaign was first launched in Iceland.
A variety of engaging events will be held during the week, including the seminar Diverse Mobility for Everyone, which takes place at 9:00 on 18 September at Reykjavík City Hall. The car-free day will also be held us usual on September 22nd.

Mobility Week – Mobility for Everyone

An additional trip will be operated on Tuesday, 9 September, on route 93 as the Norræna ferry will be sailing that day instead of Wednesday. This is a one-time case as the ferry is now switching to its winter schedule. Therefore, there will be an additional trip on both Tuesday and Wednesday this week, but from now on it will be on Wednesdays in line with the Norræna’s sailings.

Additional trip Tuesday on route 93

The timetable on route 52 will change from September 8 when Herjólfur goes to dry dock and the ferry Baldur takes over. This arrangement is expected to last until September 29.
Baldur will operate according to the summer schedule, and therefore it is necessary to adjust the timetable to match the new sailing times.
The timetable on route 51 will be adjusted on weekends during this period and will revert back as soon as Herjólfur is out of dry dock.

Changes to Routes 51 and 52 September 8th

On August 28, winter schedule will begin on route 59.
On August 30, winter schedule will begin on route 56.
On September 1, winter schedule will begin on route 94. The bus will no longer stop in Breiðdalsvík, and the only stop in Höfn will be at the airport.
Route 93 will also change: starting September 10, the additional trip on this route will move to Wednesdays to align with the Norræna ferry schedule.
Routes 61 and 62 in the Westfjords will stop operating on August 31.
Service has already started on routes 63, 64, 65, and 81. These routes follow the school calendar and will therefore only operate on school days.

Winter Schedule for the country side

Night bus will depart from Skúlagata all weekend due to street closures on Reykjavík Culture Night. This applies to both Friday night and Saturday night.
Inactive bus stops: Barónsstígur, Bíó Paradís, Þjóðleikhúsið, Lækjartorg A, Lækjartorg B og Ráðhúsið.
