We are proud that Strætó has equal pay certification, as we as a workplace want to promote equality, says Sigríður Harðardóttir, manager of human resources and quality at Strætó, when Strætó received re-certification of its equal pay system from Versa certification. The certification is a confirmation that the company’s equal pay system complies with the requirements of the equal pay standard ÍST 85:2012.
Strætó received the certificate on the Women´s Day Off on October 24 but Strætó received the first equal pay certification on this day in 2019. Sigríður says it is pleasant that the confirmation was received on Women’s Day Off. „It is important that companies and institutions work together and contribute to a more equal labour market. One part of that is getting equal pay certification.“
The main goal of equal pay certification is to eliminate gendered pay differences and adhere to the equality of all genders in the workforce. Equal pay certification was legalized in June 2017 with an amendment to the Act on equal status and equal rights for women and men no. 10/2018. By implementing the equal pay standard, companies and institutions can establish a management system that ensures that procedures and decisions in wage matters are based on objective considerations and do not involve gender-based discrimination.
