Last December had a record number of boardings in the month of December since regular measurements of boardings began. In December 2022, there were almost 980,000 boardings within the Capital Area.
The number of passengers in Strætó decreased during the Covid pandemic, but before Covid the number of boardings had steadily increased each year. December 2019 had been a record month compared to December in previous years. However, in December 2022 the numbers were even higher with around 8% more boardings than in December 2019 (before Covid). The number of Strætó´s users is therefore increasing again, which is a pleasant development after a considerable decrease during the Covid pandemic.
As shown in the graph, restrictions due to Covid had a direct effect on the number of Strætó´s customers.
