The reception of Strætó will be closed over the weekend and Whit Monday 29 May, but the Strætó call center will be open these days from 10:00 – 14:00.

Strætó schedule over Pentecost (Hvítasunna)

Due to security reasons, some streets in the city center will be closed and that will affect Strætó´s service. Traffic delays can also be expected throughout the capital area due to the driving of delegations on these days, and the effects will be greatest in the afternoon on Tuesday and Wednesday. Note that this also applies to Reykjanesbraut, between Southern Peninsula (Suðurnes) and the capital area. 
From 21:00 May 15 to 19:00, May 17:
Because of this, routes 1, 3, 6, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 55 will take detours around the city center and route 16 will take a detour through Vatnagarður instead of driving Sundagarður. 
Please note that there will be unforeseen disruptions to bus schedules across the city during this period.

Strætó's schedule on Ascension day May 18th

The route planner has been updated which will greatly improve the user experience and make the display of the search clearer. The update is both on the web and the app Klappið. Users need to update their app to get the improved route planner. 
Now you can see prices for adults when traveling both in the capital area and in the countryside. The presentation of search results is clearer, e.g. what part of the total travel time is on foot and how much time is spent on the bus. In the search results, an overview of the bus stops that are passed before the customer arrives at the end stop will be displayed. This will make it easier for new and/or inexperienced bus users to travel by bus/Strætó.
Also, alerts such as the closing of a bus stop or a delay in a trip is more noticeable, and now search results do not disappear when you go between screens in the app.

Strætó schedule on May 1st

Last March had a record number of boardings since regular measurements began. In March 2023 there were more than 1.242.000 boardings within the Capital Area which is the highest number measured in any month since regular measurements began. Previously the highest number of boardings was in October 2019, when there were 1.204.000 boardings.
In March 2023 there were 26% more boardings than in March 2022 and 12,7% more boardings than in March 2019 which was the previous record month for March.
The routes with the most boardings in March were routes 1, 15 and 3.

Record number of boardings
