Strætó stops accepting paper tickets 1. March

From 1. March 2022, it will no longer be possible to pay with the old paper tickets on board Strætó buses.

  • Paper tickets: From 1. March 2022, it will no longer be possible to pay with the old paper tickets on board Strætó city- or provincial buses. Customers who want to exchange old tickets for credit in the Klapp system have until 31. March, 2022 to do so. Note, Strætó in the countryside does not have Klapp ticketing system.
    • All paper tickets are returned to Strætó reception at Hestháls 14, 110 Reykjavík. Strætó reception is open on Mondays-Fridays from 09:00-16:00. It is closed on weekends.
  • Old bus cards: Customers that have an active bus card, printed or in the app, will continue to use them until their validation time expires. After that they will switch to the Klapp ticketing system. The countryside will still use the bus cards.
  • Cash: It will continue to be possible to pay in cash until Strætó announces otherwise. Drivers can not give change in the capital area.
